2.1 Permissions and Justifications

iScreen requests the following permissions to provide its core functionality. We only request permissions that are essential for the extension's features:

Storage & UnlimitedStorage: Required to save user preferences such as Dark Mode, whitelisted domains, and personalized tab cleanup schedules, and to cache assets for offline functionality.
Bookmarks: Required for the "Bookmark and Close" feature, allowing users to safely archive a group of duplicate tabs into a new bookmark folder before clearing them from their active session.
Tabs: Core permission required to detect duplicate URLs, query tab metadata (titles/favicons), switch between active tabs, and perform cleanup actions (closing redundant tabs).
Search: Used solely for the new tab search feature via the chrome.search.query API. This enables searches using your default search engine, respecting your preferred provider without collecting or transmitting search data.
ContextMenus: Used to provide a "Close Duplicates on this Domain" shortcut in the browser's right-click context menu for one-click efficiency.
Alarms: Used to trigger scheduled cleanup of duplicate tabs (Daily/Weekly) and to periodically refresh the daily background image and inspirational quote content.
TabGroups: Used for the "Group Selected" feature, allowing users to organize scattered duplicate tabs into a single, clean Chrome Tab Group.
SidePanel: Used to host the primary Duplicate Tab Manager interface, enabling a modern, non-intrusive workflow while you continue working.
Top Sites & History: Used locally to provide quick access to your most visited websites and to enable searching through recent tabs from the dashboard.
Host Permissions (unsplash, pixabay, pexels, meshworld.in): Essential for fetching high-quality background images and daily motivational quotes from secure, verified providers.

2.2 Data Processing

Local Processing: All data accessed via the above permissions (History, Bookmarks, Top Sites) is processed locally on your machine. We do not transmit this data to our servers or any third parties.
External Services: iScreen fetches high-definition background images and inspirational quotes from curated APIs. These services may receive standard technical information (like your IP address) to fulfill the request, but no personal browsing data or extension-specific data is shared with them.

3. Data Retention

Since iScreen stores your preferences and accesses your browser data locally, this information remains on your device. It is deleted if you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension. We do not maintain any remote databases of your personal browsing activity.

4. Security

We prioritize the security of your data. By keeping data processing local to your browser, we minimize the potential surface area for data breaches. We follow industry best practices for Chrome Extension development to ensure a secure environment for your "Digital Sanctuary".
